Unleash Your Inner Drone Pilot: Learn the basics – safely!

This is the Level 1 S.O.A.R. (Skills for Optimal Aerial Recreation) program class on drone safety and operation. The class covers:

Key Concepts:

• S.O.A.R. Methodology: A holistic approach integrating safety, knowledge, responsibility, and community engagement.
• Drone Safety: Protecting people and property, legal compliance, building community trust, environmental awareness, and emergency preparedness.
• Drone Operation: Understanding drone components and functions, pre- and post-flight checks, and regulations and compliance.
• Situational Awareness: Identifying potential hazards and understanding weather conditions' impact on drone flight.
• Responsible Flying: Respecting others' privacy, avoiding reckless maneuvers, and adhering to community guidelines and laws.

Class Objectives:

Students will gain a foundational understanding of drone safety practices, learn basic drone operation, and prepare for more advanced concepts in subsequent S.O.A.R. levels.  The class includes hands-on experience and flight simulations.

Specific Skills Covered:

The class provides hands-on instruction and practice on 14 beginner drone maneuvers.

The class emphasizes safe practices throughout all maneuvers.

The next level (Level 2) introduces more advanced flight maneuvers and camera operation.

Each participant who successfully completes the training is awarded a certificate. 

Notice:  This is not a FAA Part 107 Training. This is however a hands-on flight training with some in-class instruction.
