Beyond the Basics: Safe and Skillful Flights Await!

This course builds upon the foundational knowledge of SOAR Level 1, focusing on practical, hands-on skills and responsible recreational drone operation. It's designed to enhance your flying proficiency, confidence, and understanding of safe and responsible flight practices.

Key Concepts:

  • Advanced Emergency Response: Learn to handle various emergency scenarios, including failsafe maneuvers, utilizing RTH effectively, and employing manual failsafe techniques.
  • Airspace Mastery: Understand different airspace classes (A-G) and regulations to ensure safe and legal operations. Learn how to utilize resources like LAANC for authorized operations.
  • Weather Analysis: Improve flight safety by analyzing weather data to assess risks and make informed decisions about whether to fly.
  • Redundancy & Backup Systems: Explore strategies to mitigate system failures by implementing backup systems and components (batteries, controllers, communication methods).
  • Advanced Flight Maneuvers: Practice various flight maneuvers, including precise movements, rolls, turns, and altitude changes.
  • Drone Safety: Reinforce the principles of responsible drone operation, emphasizing the protection of people and property, building community trust, and environmental awareness.

Class Objectives:

Students will gain a foundational understanding of drone safety practices, learn basic drone operation, and prepare for more advanced concepts in subsequent S.O.A.R. levels.  The class includes hands-on experience and flight simulations.

Specific Skills Covered:

The class provides hands-on instruction and practice on 14 intermediate drone maneuvers.

The class emphasizes safe practices throughout all maneuvers.

The next level (Level 3) introduces more advanced flight maneuvers and camera operation.

Each participant who successfully completes the training is awarded a certificate. 

Notice:  This is not a FAA Part 107 Training. This is however a hands-on flight training with some in-class instruction.

How much does S.O.A.R. - Level 2 training cost

$200 per participant.  

What's the class size?

Classes are limited to four participants for safe, focused UAV instruction.

Will I need my own drone?

Yes.  Unfortunately we cannot provide drones for use during the class. 

How long is this class?

Approximately 3 hours with 2 hours being hands-on flight training.
